This is compulsory programme aimed at promoting understanding of amongst others, the Constitution, developmental orientation of the South African public service, Batho Pele etc. among new public servants.
Cabinet resolved in 2007 that:
“SAMDI (then, now Palama) should be the major service provider (in public sector training) including in the mass induction of public servants”
Specific Objectives of MIP are:

To develop and inculcate the Batho Pele ethos of serving;

To stimulate a sense of pride in working for the Public Service;
-
To create an awareness of the challenges of the developmental state.
The programme includes, among others,

The vision and work of government;
-
Challenges facing the government;
-
Structures of government;
-
Understanding the public service;
-
Building better public service;
-
Improving service delivery;
-
Corruption and Ethics;
-
Government spending and the developmental state;
-
South Africa and other countries;
-
Batho Pele principles;
-
Government policies and procedures; and
-
Managing people, finances and other resources.
The programme is a non-credit bearing two-day compulsory contact session conducted by experienced departmental trainers and contracted providers.
