The Executive Development Branch in partnership with the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS) held a very successful half-day seminar on Public-Private Partnerships in a Developmental State on Tuesday, 23 February 2010.
The event was attended by approximately 65 senior managers from both national and provincial departments who came to listen, learn and interact with the key note speaker, Mr. Andre Kruger and panelists, Professors Job Mokgoro and Steven Friedman and Messrs. Barry Smith and John Rocha.
The seminar was co-facilitated by Prof Anne Mc Lennan of Palama and Mr Jonathan Cook from GIBS.
The success of the seminar was attributed to its highly professional and innovative set-up that included an opportunity to engage directly with panelists during an arm-chair conversation; the expert knowledge of the keynote speaker and panelists who brought depth, practical examples as well as diverse, but interesting perspectives to a very topical and under utilized area in South Africa; and the opportunity to network with colleagues from sister departments.
A two-day seminar on “Proactive and Responsive Public Service – Strengthening public-private collaboration” will take place at the GIBS campus on 20-21 May 2010.
