Palama training calendar for July - September 2010
PALAMA offers public servants an opportunity to build their skills as part of improving service delivery and advancing their own professionalism. SMS members can do specific modules and a mini-dissertation to achieve a Masters’ degree (as long as entry requirements are met). Monitoring and Evaluation Serminar - 29 March 2010
The Executive Development branch of PALAMA hosted a public seminar on Monday 29th March 2010 on the topic ‘Reflections on the South African government’s approach to monitoring and evaluation in the public sector’. The seminar was led by Professor Patricia Rogers of the Collaboration for Interdisciplinary Research, Consulting and Learning in Evaluation (CIRCLE) at RMIT University (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology). In 2002, she conducted a peer review for the Office of the Presidency of South Africa’s policy framework for its Government-Wide Monitoring and Evaluation System. About 40 delegates from many provincial departments and Premiers Offices attended the workshop.

In its meeting held 24 March 2010, the Cabinet approved his appointment as the Director-General of the Public Administration Leadership and Management Academy (PALAMA) effective 1 April 2010. Massified Induction programme (MIP)
MIP is a compulsory 2-day training programme targeting all the newly appointed employees in levels 1-12 in the public service. This programme focuses on officials appointed on fixed appointment on probation and it is through attending this training that an official’s probation can be confirmed. It promotes understanding of key government programmes like Batho Pele, conditions of service, the Constitution etc.
